Is the sign really free?
Yes — for founding households in selected launch areas. The yard sign, your shop, and listing are all free, no card required. We're testing whether visible local storefronts make family resale easier, block by block.
Which Mississauga neighbourhoods are launching first?
We're opening a handful of Mississauga neighbourhoods first, to build enough local supply and discovery in each. Request a sign with your postal code and we'll tell you if your street is in the first wave — or add you to the next one.
What can I sell?
Anything your family has outgrown — kids' clothes and toys, gear, books, furniture, household items. If it's in good shape and easy to hand off locally, it's a fit.
Will my items sell right away?
Honestly, maybe not at first — we're building local storefront density before demand. Early on, the goal is enough homes on a block that browsing becomes worth it for neighbours. The more families join your street, the faster things move — which is exactly why we have Block Captains.
What if my street doesn't have enough families yet?
We activate a street once enough neighbours are interested, so early on the goal is getting your block on board. Become a Block Captain — get about five homes interested and we'll prioritise your street first. Meanwhile you can still set up your shop and start listing, so you're ready the moment your block goes live.
What can a neighbour see after scanning my sign?
Only your shop — your listings, your first name, and your neighbourhood, never your exact street address. Your shop is a simple web link, so it isn't locked to your block; but in practice it's neighbours passing your sign who scan it. They browse in their phone and message you through Nice.to, and you decide where and when to meet.
Do I have to meet strangers at my door?
No. Your sign opens a storefront, not your door. Neighbours browse your items first and message you through Nice.to — so you get fewer vague messages, and nobody knocks unannounced or haggles on the lawn. You choose whether to respond, and where and when to meet.
What happens after I request a sign?
You confirm your postal code so we can check your neighbourhood, then set up your shop and add a first item. We print and mail your sign — plant it on your lawn and neighbours can scan it to browse your storefront.
